Puyã (Day) - Book author and mother who incorporates the core values of her Ethiopian heritage into her storytelling.
Puyã (Day) Yohannes was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and now resides in Philadelphia. There has never been a time in her life where she didn't draw. Her children sparked the need for enchanting stories that have realistic backgrounds and fictional outcomes. That's when she started her journey of storytelling and wrote two children’s graphic novels. She is a self-taught artist whose culture heavily influences her illustrations. Her first book MitMita: The Injera Curled Hero, has a mixture of magic, memories from her childhood, and a mythology maze to uncover. Her second book MitMita: The Spector Long Lost, is a historical fictional novel about the forgotten Prince Alemayhu.
