Ava Homa is an award-winning novelist, a journalist, and activist. Her debut novel Daughters of Smoke and Fire (2020) is the story of a Kurdish woman’s search for justice and freedom. The story has been described as being prescient in portraying what is happening now with the uprisings in Iran, spurred by the death of 22-year-old Jina Mahsa Amini.
Daughters Of Smoke And Fire is inspired by the life of Kurdish human rights activist Farzad Kamangar and was published to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his execution.
