Can a husband deprive his wife of marital support because he is accusing her of committing adultery?

In this episode, Joanna, young housewife decided to file a case of legal separation against her husband, Steven.  This was after she confided her marital problems with her college confidant, Andy.    The long phone conversations and a meet-up at a school tambayan fueled Steven's suspicions of a brewing affair between his wife and her college barkada.  He threatened to not to provide financial support to his wife because of her alleged infidelity.
