Arriving in the U.S. as a teenage exchange student who spoke no English, Monet’s father built a life rooted in hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in the American Dream. “I’d rather be homeless in America than live under tyranny,” he once said—and he lived those words, choosing struggle in freedom over comfort in oppression.
