Why do we turn a blind eye to those within the black community who make the decision to consult with a therapist? Being able to be heard and reflect on feelings in a positive light is a beautiful thing and should be more supported.
The sad reality is that many generations within our community have carried and passed on unaddressed trauma that has left a lot of us with weight we can’t carry. A lot of us enter situations/relationships without addressing these issues and wonder why we never get the outcome we desire. Instead of indulging in an escape; alcohol, sex, drugs, etc., we’re gonna try something different. We’re going to therapy…
