A platform that elevates the work of Black and Brown folks in our communities especially in the working class and poor neighborhood of San Diego. Our guests are location but also national and international. This space is used as an informational hub, to educate, and also used as an organizational platform for a call to actions like organizing around human trafficking, voter education. This show addresses the issues around the Black Lives Matter Uprisings nationally and on a grassroots level. Alafia VODAD has also become a safe space for folks of color from the LGBTQIA community.

Wagui the Healer Speaks

Wangui Hymes (she/her) is a healer-activist born and raised in the south Bay Area of California. After graduating in 2016 with a degree in Chemistry from Spelman College, she moved back to the Bay to pursue a career in the health-tech industry. She left in 2019 after realizing that her morals were not aligned with the practices she witnessed in and around the industry. Currently, she is a part of the Mindful Living program at the Mangalam Research Center for Buddhist Languages where she hosts a podcast entitled Here We Sit with two of her fellow residents
