Para 1 | Juz 1 - Part 1/2: Surah Al-Fatiha | Al-Baqarah (1-74)

The opening of Al-Fatiha is a conversation between a servant and the Creator. It begins with the phrase "Alhamdulillah" to praise God. It also states that God has full authority over all creations and is the Most Gracious and Most Merciful.

The opening lines of Al-Fatiha are:

  • "In the name of God (Allah), the Compassionate and Merciful"
  • "Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, the Compassionate and Merciful"
  • "Master of the Day of Judgement"
  • "Thee we worship and from Thee we seek help"

Al-Fatiha is a means of establishing a connection with Allah. It allows individuals to communicate with their Lord and seek His guidance, mercy, and blessings.

Surah Al-Baqarah begins with the declaration that the Quran is free of doubt and contains guidance for those who possess taqwa. It also states, "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Alif, Laam, Miim. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah"

Surah Al-Baqarah is a Madni Surah, meaning it was revealed in Madinah. It has 286 verses and can be divided into nine main sections. The majority of Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed during the first two years of the Holy Prophet's life in Al-Madinah.
