In our 1st episode, Kris McFadyen, Andy McMahon & Ishbel Softley are joined by Arfon Smith, Responsible AI Lead for Github's Copilot. We discuss the innovation and evolution of AI within the Copilot product and how ChatGPT and AI paired programming technologies will continue to evolve.
Arfon's bio:
I'm responsible for integrating AI into the core GitHub experience, partnering closely with design, engineering, and our scientists and GitHub and Azure AI. My current focus is on Copilot Enterprise – GitHub's most advanced AI offering to date – infusing GitHub Copilot throughout the software development lifecycle.
I'm an experienced leader and strategist with extensive product, data science, and engineering experience with a particular focus on open source. I've worked at organizations of very different sizes, scales, and sectors. Most recently I founded and led the Data Science Mission Office at STScI (stsci.edu) in Baltimore, the home of the James Webb and Hubble Space Telescopes and other flagship NASA science missions.
