#3 Work-Life Balance Is a Lie? Google’s gDNA Project Has Answer

Imagine a world where work can actually give you energy, where it's fulfilling, not just draining your time and energy. Where people feel valued and respected, supported both at work and in their personal lives. A world where people can actually leave work at work and enjoy their evenings and weekends without any guilt or anxiety. Where companies actually benefit from having more engaged employees, people who are more creative and productive. It's not some impossible dream. It can really happen if we are willing to change how we think and what we do.

gDNA - Inspired by the Framingham research on heart diseases, Google's People Innovation Lab developed gDNA, its first major long-term study aimed at understanding work.

What do they hope to learn? In the short-term, how to improve wellbeing, how to cultivate better leaders, how to keep Googlers engaged for longer periods of time, how happiness impacts work and how work impacts happiness.

Their first rounds of gDNA had revealed some interesting facts about how employees actually relate to the boundaries of work and life. They found 2 kinds of employees - Segmentors and Integrators. Hop onto the podcast and find out more about them and Google's innovative "Dublin goes Dark" initiative.
