AI and assistive technologies for the visually impaired

How might AI and smartphones change blind and partially sighted peoples’ lives? And how might blind and partially sighted people change AI and smartphones. Apps such as Microsoft’s Soundscape announce what’s around you, while Cloudsight’s TapTapSee recognises objects and AIRA uses sighted professionals to help VI users via their smartphone. This podcast reports back on pilot research on the uses of these assistive technologies in everyday settings by visually impaired users.
