Love and Religion: Love and the Regulative, Relative Power of YHVH

ChapterSix:              Love

(36)“ Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” (37) And he said to him, You shall love the Lord your God withall your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (38) This is thegreatest commandment. (39) And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (40) On these twocommandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 22:36-40 ESV

When asked what was the greatest of all the Laws that Godgave man to live by, Jesus told them this is the command, that we shall loveGod with everything that is within us, and we are to love each other as we loveourselves. Jesus did not give us a set of commands that were complicated anddifficult to understand and follow. He gave us something very simple to do. Youand I can practice this everyday of our lives, and we never have to concernourselves with the thought of, “what if we somehow run out of love”?  There is an endless supply of it in all ofus. All we need to do is look in our hearts.
