Tom Bartley, CEO at Barbal joins hosts Ralph Montague and John Egan for a discussion about innovation in our built environment.
Amongst the slew of positions and experience within AEC sectors, Tom's dominant background is digital engineering and procurement with WSP. Other notable projects include his involvement with the steering group that gave birth to the PAS 1192 standards, which would become a cornerstone for the ISO 19650 standards in later years. Tom is best known for his role as CEO of Barbal and the futuristic articles he publishes with his outlook on the future of construction. e.g [Towards an internet of construction](https://tom-bartley.medium.com/towards-an-internet-of-construction-6ab9e211c241)
As both a technically astute and forward thinking guest, Ralph and John cut right to the chase with Tom to discuss his views on the future paths of industry evolution and cover some of the things that need to change to make it happen. Topics of interest include:
* How the role of a BIM manager will split into systems vs information architecture
* Consideration if ISO/BuildingSMART will remain the home of interoperability standards for construction
* Universally applicable solutions for consensus building via Barbal
