Be it natural phenomenon or supernatural forces, the one thing that IS known about "Los Vigilantes Oscuros" is that they've haunted Californians for centuries. Starting in the 1700s when Spanish scouts first braved the central mountain ranges, the Watchers were reportedly seen in large numbers staring down from clifftops and waiting along the horizon.
