Throughout the history of God's people preaching has been a priority; hearing from God has been the most important thing God's people can do. In Genesis, Adam & Eve heard from God, in Exodus the people heard from God, in Nehemiah the people heard from God, in the GOSPELS the people heard from (& saw!) God, and so on.

But it is not always easy to listen to preaching, and so we prepare our hearts to hear from his word.
