Sadly each year many lives are lost on The Wonderland Trail by experienced hikers crossing rivers. Find out the basics and learn to assess your skill level in order to minimize risk in the backcountry. Day #3 on The Wonderland included a problematic river with minimal to some risk. Farther on the trail you'll hear of the South Mowich, West White River and Carbon Rivers that hold higher risk.
