Genesis 44:18-47:27 (Vayigash) Joseph’s Reveal and Judah’s Restoration

In this Torah portion, Joseph has his big reveal with his brothers. He tells them who he is after his brother Judah makes an impassioned appeal on behalf of Benjamin. In this portion we see the birthright of Joseph fully demonstrated as he is able to provide for his family in Egypt. We also see Judah’s restoration and elevation as a leader of the tribes. It is an interesting portion full of revelation because we see Yahweh at work in the lives of his patriarchs. He is performing the promise He made to Abraham and causing His word to come forward in the generations.
