A delay on a flight inevitably leads to moaning, groaning, and frustrations. In this case, they were justified since the delay was happening as a direct result of one angry passenger who had a vendetta against one (likely expensive) Disneyland balloon.
Luckily for these people - and the rest of us on the flight, we had an incredibly intuitive flight attendant. Their thoughtful response taught me a lesson not only in emotional validation, but also in recognizing that bridges need to be crossed when we get there.
I didn't know it at the time, but that was probably one of the most important life lessons I could learn before becoming a parent.
Of course, it would take becoming a parent before I really took it in. But, at least I saw it in action here.
