Local Mind Week 2025, Assistance Dogs; and Doomscrolling

This month, Victoria and Richard find out about 'Local Mind Week' and we have an update on the Cornwall Mind groups with Jo.

We talk to Lucy Eldred from Canine Partners about how assistance dogs can help people living with physical disabilities, and their mental health benefits, and why her charity is making an urgent appeal for Puppy Training volunteers.

Plus, Behavioural Psychologist, Dr Linda Papadopoulos tells us about doomscrolling, and why it is important to change our habits and avoid excessive exposure to negative news, especially through social media and other online platforms, which can significantly impact mental health.

“A Space to Speak Your Mind” is produced in collaboration with Cornwall Mind:

https://cornwallmind.org/peer-support-group/radio-show/

More support at: www.samaritans.org/ or call 116 123

There is also a 24/7 NHS local urgent mental health response phone line.

Its free to access by anyone, any age on 0800 038 5300

Or call the new NHS Crisis Hotline by calling 111 and pressing Option 2.

This gives you another way to access if you’re struggling with your Mental Health.
