Cornwall Mind - World Mental Health Day 2024

Francesca, Julie and Gaelle host this month’s special programme for World Mental Health Day taking place on Thursday 10th October.

This is also the first time the show is being produced by the Cornwall Mind radio wellbeing group from the CHBN studios at Treliske Hospital in Truro.

Francesca tells us about Makaton, the language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. She also explains about Safe Places.

Julie lets us know about the CHAMPs project ‘Screen It’ and you can see the video she mentions here:

Gaelle explains about the importance of creativity in wellbeing.

Find out more at: https://mindfulreset.co.uk/

We also talk to Scarlett Moffatt, who is an ambassador for the Samaritans, about giving back to nurses and the NICU unit where she had her baby premature, on this World Mental Day.

Comedian and author of ‘Billy No-Mates: How I Realised Men Have a Friendship Problem’ chats about social anxiety and forming friendships when we’re older.

Team GB Olympian Tom Bosworth explains how walking and getting out in the open air is good for our mental health as part of the nationwide Big Walk campaign.

Plus, Victoria catches up with Rhys Wynne-Jones, the mystery piano player from the Penzance Night Church and Alice Phoenix who put the project together.

“A Space to Speak Your Mind” is produced in collaboration with Cornwall Mind:
