In this episode, Alex talks to Kimberley McIntosh. Kim is a writer and researcher, with a focus on race and inequality. She has written for a range of publications including the Guardian, the Washington Post, the Independent, the Metro, i news gal-dem and Vice. Kimberly has discussed her research on BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live, BBC News and Sky News and worked on campaigns such as the Windrush Scandal. black girl, no magic is her first book.
We discuss Kim's dream feminist dinner party, starting with a fabulous guest list; broadcaster Clara Amfo, author James Baldwin and American academic Tressie McMillan Cottom. Set in a fantasy castle, against a soundtrack of Jacques Green, Teedra Moses and City Girls, they start with chargrilled octopus, followed by oxtail with rice, coleslaw and macaroni pie, and finishing with lemon posset. We discuss how her feminism intersects with her writing, and her past and current projects.
