Khadi – the word conjures up images of Mahatma Gandhi and the Swadeshi movement he led.
Interestingly, a few 5th-century paintings in the Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra depict the process of separating cotton fibers from seeds (called ginning) as well as women spinning cotton yarn! The first evidence of Khadi’s early form in Indian civilization!
The fabric of our freedom- Khadi, has so much depth to it. Come with me and hear the tale of ‘Khadi’ in the twelfth episode of ‘A Poetry Tribute.’
