Meet Sylvie Rodgers, born into a humble family of a Dutch father and a Indian (Goan) mother, she gt a scholarship to study medicine in England. The extremely conservative English folk never made her feel normal, but that was better than the abuse and even being spat on she got in India, due to the fact she was seen as a man behaving like a woman. A trip to America changed that and she eventually returned back to India a new person – a woman. She celebrated her identity flamboyantly at various society parties owning her identity for who she was. That to me back then was the sign of sheer braveness.
I admired and respected her then and ever since. I truly am grateful to speak with her about her journey, her ups and downs and about how she still remains a party girl.
