What are the impacts of consumerism and pollution on the environment?
The problem is that there is a close and strong relationship between consumerism and the environment. That's because to meet the demand of production and consumption it is necessary to remove raw materials from nature, manufacture and transport materials, make great use of electricity and water, among others. All of this generates emission of polluting gases, environmental degradation and devastation, general pollution and, consequently the destruction of ecosystems. How does the media influence consumption?
Consumerism is growing daily in our society, this growth, influenced by the media that every day launches new products, making people think that buying them will feel more happy and complete.
We can see well-designed commercials, with a high degree of creativity. In them appear smiling people, like women happy to wear clothes from famous brands, smiling families together taking Coke, inducing the consumer to buy more and more, without having the notion that in fact this false happiness will end when the various bills arrive. Bills are often so high they may not get to pay. What can you do to change consumerism?
Preventing impulse buying involves techniques such as setting budgets before making purchases and waiting a while before the purchase is made. Take a moment to look around your house and you'll likely you will find many products that you never use.
