In this episode of 8-bit Monsters, Monster Deconstruction for D&D 5e, I deconstruct the Chain Devil. This is a front line fiend that loves to use chains w/ reach (basically whips) to torcher and disrupt the players plans. Making sure this fiend is in a room with extra chains is critical as well. Listen along as I discuss the basic information about this monster and how it's stats, defenses, and offenses can affect the Challenge Rating. Then finally how to use this monster in combat and other suggestions on what to use and not to use.

The idea of this podcast is to break monsters down into their bare components: DCR & OCR. These two values will allow us to see how strong they are and to see where D&D got the CR values from. I'm doing this because all too often, players skip right to level 3 to avoid the hell levels and possibly end up dead. Generally, each monster is a balancing act that isn't equal to the final value.
