
The study of civilizations and how they work is a fascinating topic that is constantly evolving. The 1990s were, among other things, marked by the intellectual impact of a 1993 article in Foreign Affairs entitled "The Clash of Civilizations?" The author was the American political scientist Samuel P. Huntington. He elaborated on his theory and published it as a book in 1996 entitled The Clash of Civilizations. In it, he argued in particular that after the fall of the Iron Curtain, the interfaces of civilization defined mainly by religion would be the sites of major conflicts.
