Haydn is one of the most influential composers to come out of the 18th century who started from humble beginnings. In the lead-up to the Australian Haydn Ensemble’s December 2023 concert tour, Artistic Director Skye McIntosh takes a look at Haydn’s early career when he took up his position with the Esterhàzy’s and some of the stunning music he composed at that time.
The Mozart family is probably the best-known musical family of the 18th century next to that of the Bachs, but there were others that were connected to them and each other - including The Haydn brothers - Joseph and Michael - and also an important influencer of the young Mozart, Johann Christian Bach. In the lead-up to the Australian Haydn Ensemble’s April 2023 concert tour and performance at the Canberra International Festival, The Mozarts, The Haydns & The Bear, Artistic Director Skye McIntosh takes a look at these musical families and connections.
In this first episode, Artistic Director Skye McIntosh talks about the composer C.P.E. Bach who is central to the Australian Haydn Ensemble's final tour program for 2022: C.P.E. Bach: Universe of Harmony.
CPE Bach was arguably one of the most important and influential composers of the 18th century.
