新年１回目は大野城跡歩きをお休みいただき、大野城市にある善一田古墳を歩きます。
この古墳は６世紀後半～７世紀の約１００年間に造られた古墳群です。
およそ４代、１００年ほど続いた古墳です。
６世紀中頃に乙金山麓にいた開拓者の集団の墓ではないかとみられています。
副葬品には新羅系の土器が数多くみられ、新羅との交流に関わった人々の存在がみられるようです。
