石人山古墳は、岩戸山古墳の近くにあり、筑紫の君磐井の祖父の代に当たる古墳で、墳丘の長さは120メートル程の前方後円墳です。
古墳の入り口には武装石人像が一体あり、後方にある石棺を守っているかのようです。
石棺は長さ3メートル程の家形石棺で、屋根に刻まれた装飾文様は見事なものです。
