Snow-White and Rose-Red are two kind and loving sisters who live with their widowed mother in a cottage in the forest. Snow-White is gentle and quiet, while Rose-Red is lively and adventurous, but they love each other dearly.

One winter night, a bear knocks on their door, seeking shelter from the cold. The girls and their mother welcome him, and he becomes their companion throughout the winter. When spring arrives, the bear leaves, telling them he must protect his treasure from an evil dwarf.

Later, the sisters encounter a wicked dwarf in the forest multiple times, each time rescuing him from danger. However, instead of gratitude, the dwarf rudely scolds them.
