Welcome to my personal podcast, Game Plan. This is the first time I’m recording in English. Sadly, the urgency to record not only in Hebrew, came from the unbearable reality of the last few weeks.
We’ve recorded the podcast on November 19th. Over a month has passed since the horrifying terror attack and the beginning of the Hamas-Israel war. At this point, I think it’s safe to say that this is a national trauma that we haven’t experienced before in Israel.
Similar to many people, I was conflicting with myself about what can I do to support my community. As the Jewish community is significantly small (around 16 million globally, which makes 0.2% of the worldwide population), we need the help of everyone to combat antisemitism and fake news. This is how the idea for this episode came to life. Today’s recording won’t be perfect and without any editing but hopefully will help you learn more about the topic.
My distinguished guest for today is Dr. Lev Topor. Lev is a researcher focusing on antisemitism and cyber policies. He is the co-author of “Why Do People Discriminate Against Jews?” (w/Jonathan Fox) and the author of “Phishing for Nazis: Conspiracies, Anonymous Communications and White Supremacy Networks on the Dark Web.” Lev is a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, a fellow at the Woolf Institute at Cambridge, a former research fellow at the International Institute for Holocaust Research at "Yad Vashem" and a former senior research fellow at the Center for Cyber Law and Policy at the University of Haifa.
