Today’s topic is a heavy one. So heavy, in fact, that I’m not even attempting to come up with a mood-lightening joke to soften its grim arrival. While preparing this episode, I went from wanting to howl (I held it in), to sob uncontrollably (I didn’t), to shoot dogfight organizers in the knees (none were conveniently at hand). So no cheerful descriptions this time. But what I am full of is the strength to talk facts — no fluff (somewhere out there, a thesis just got defended with all the saved verbiage I left out). As you’ve surely guessed by now: this episode is about dog fighting — how a utilitarian tool became a noble pastime, and later, a modern-day blood industry. Yes, your ears aren’t deceiving you: dog fighting is illegal in most countries around the world (including, I’m 3000% sure, the one you currently live in). And yet, this bloody business isn’t the least bit shy about its scale. Why it’s bloody probably needs no explaining to you, my wise and noble listeners. But why I dare to call it a business — well, that’s what I unpack in this episode. And if I may say so — with just the tiniest lack of modesty — this may be the most comprehensive audio deep dive on dog fighting you’ve ever heard. Including all this: 🥊 How rat-baiting mutated into a rotting “entertainment” industry; 💰 How much a “promising” puppy costs and how fight organizers make money; 🧬 What role banned substances play — and how dogs are “trained” for the ring; 👁 What legal loopholes let perpetrators walk free again and again; 🐾 What consequences fall not just on dogs and organizers — but on society at large. (Yes, even if you’ve never heard of a dog fight, it’s still hurting you.) ⚠️ How to spot a dog in danger and when help is needed; 🧡 And following that: how you can help — for the price of a coffee, a phone call, or even just a few free words. ⏰ As promised in the episode, the segment about identifying and helping dogs in danger begins at 33:16. 🩵🩶 Listen. Be horrified. Share it. And please — don’t look away. No puppy eyes this time — just an earnest ask to follow, react, or subscribe to Pёskast on the platforms where it’s easiest for you not to miss the next episode. And please — take care of yourselves and those around you. 🩶🩵

30 (doggy) life lessons before 30 (human) | Episode 7
The episode turned out to be nostalgic and rambling. So much so that listening to it is equivalent to a week of peace in a quiet village nestled in the velvet folds of wooded hills, where the air is fresh and the thoughts are pure. In short, a true remedy for a soul dusted by cityscapes. With gentle paws, I spin the Wheel of Balance and reflect on 30 years of life alongside dogs — so naturally, all the lessons in the episode are about dogs. But on closer inspection, they’re not what they seem: after all, Krylov’s fables about swans, crayfish and pike — or a chef’s cat — aren’t really about swans or crayfish or cats at all. But enough with the curtsies — here’s a sneak peek of what awaits inside: 🌅 Breaking news for sunset fans at Lake Como and other Italian surroundings; 🎤 “The Dog Days Are Over”: how karaoke nights relate to learning English idioms and why dogs get blamed again; 💉 Fear and loathing in family therapy; 🦥 A good-enough human and a dog-human partnership with a secure attachment style; 📸 Exclusive content: paparazzi caught Riddick chilling on a plane (see the video version); 🛠 Modern wisdoms: still waters run deep, and fragile girls often house totalitarian dictators; 💸 The mystery of the homeless with dogs — solved; 🥖 Foie gras, doctor’s sausage, and Borodinsky bread with butter; 👺 “Alarm! Aggression!” — and what’s really lurking underneath; 🐺 The second life of macho-man quotes and wolfish lessons inherited from dogs; 👨‍🌾 A scandalous skirmish in the labyrinths of Petrogradka, or how a stranger’s father-in-law saved me from slander; 🍾 Secrets of collecting dog poop with flair; ✨ How life with a dog can inspire creativity, heal your body, and even help you learn foreign languages; 👵 Spiritual wisdom from my grandma, and why it’s worth listening to. And more — a whole 30 free life lessons about dog life and life with dogs, earned externally and entirely free of charge! Rush to grab them on your favorite podcast platform before they’re all gone. 🩵🩶 Listen, learn, soak up the insights and research from the episode — and don’t forget to drop by the podcast’s Telegram channel: t.me/pyoscast. It’s no longer just tumbleweeds over there — it’s getting more useful (and funnier), I promise. 🩶🩵
