In this episode of ‘Urja Badlav’, Hridayesh Joshi speaks to Rohit Chandra of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Jharkhand-based social activist Gulab Chandra Prajapati to examine the impact of fossil fuel-based energy projects including mining on communities.
The guests talk about the effects the projects have on the communities that are directly or indirectly impacted by them, as well as how closely connected their lives are to such initiatives, which also contribute to social infrastructure in such regions. They also spoke on the importance of making the communities an important stakeholder in the Just Transition conversation and emphasized the importance of a Just Transition fund to address the requirements of this community.
