ジャンは雲の中でイライラしながら待ち続けた。

新盆だというのに、自分には何の音沙汰もない。

ぼくがフランス人だからか、それとも自殺だからか？

ここは彼岸なのはまちがいない。

なら、ここにいるぼくに、なぜその彼岸のルールが適用されないのか。

「ジャン」と、鳩（に似た鳥）はいった。「お前にも新盆がきた。かえるがよい」

Jean waited irritably in the clouds.

It's Shinbon, but I haven't heard a word from myself.

Was it because I was French or because I had committed suicide?

I am sure that this is the other shore.

Then why don't the rules of the other shore apply to me here?

Jean," said the pigeon (a bird similar to a pigeon). The new year has come for you, too. Go back to your home.
