Executive Director, Libre Space Foundation

As the Executive Director of Libre Space Foundation, Pierros oversees the design, implementation and delivery of all LSF programs (including services, projects and products). His responsibilities depending on the needs of the program or project may include from high-level guidance and direction setting, to hands-on monitoring and facilitation of project management and operations.

Relevant Projects: UPSAT - 2016-2017. Program Manager for design, manufacturing, delivery and operation of UPSat

(the first open source satellite in orbit). Self-funded by Libre Space Foundation. SatNOGS - 2015-Present. Engineering manager and operations manager for SatNOGS, the global ground station network project of LSF. Self-funded by Libre Space Foundation. POLIS - 2018. Program manager for a Copernicus Masters proposal for EO cubesat constellation. QUBIK - 2019-Present. Program manager for a twin Pocketqube mission of communication, satellite identification and LEOP experiments. Self-funded by Libre Space Foundation. SDRMakerspace - 2018-2020. Project coordinator for ESA funded activity exploring developments on Software Defined Radio. OpenSatCom - 2019-Present. Project coordinator for ESA funded activity exploring open source develpoment methodologies in SATCOM domain. SatNOGS - COMMS - 2019-Present. Project coordinator for an ESA GSTP Phase 2 activity, creating a open hardware and open software cubesat COMMS for S-Band and UHF with IQ capa- bilities. Metasat - 2019-Present. Program manager for implementation of open metadata to link data, software, and hardware from small satellite missions. Funding for MetaSat is provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation through a grant awarded to the John G. Wolbach Library at the Center for Astrophysics and the Libre Space Foundation.

Mozilla Corporation Jan’16-Feb’19 Open Innovation Strategist/As a member of the Open Innovation team at Mozilla, Pierros acts as a consultant and analyst for a wide variety of new or established projects inside Mozilla, providing insights, guidance and strategy directions in the fields of open source development, open governance, ecosystem engagement and external partnerships.

Mozilla Corporation Nov’13-Dev’15 Engineering Manager/As an Engineering Manager for Mozilla, Pierros oversaw the creation, expansion and deployment of the community management systems and tools across the organization. His responsibilities included managing a distributed team of engineers working on community systems and taking on Program Management and Project Management roles on various technical projects related to the Community Management field (event systems, profiling, analytics etc)

Mozilla Corporation Feb’09-Oct’13/Community Manager/As a Community Manager for Mozilla, Pierros designed and implemented the first holistic global contributor engagement program for Mozilla, ”Mozilla Reps” (https://reps.mozilla.org). His respon- sibilities included kickstarting communities of volunteers for Mozilla in various IT related fields on more than 40 countries world-wide.

National Technical University of Athens Dec’07-Jan’09 Operations engineer/As an operations engineer at the Network Operations Center of the National Technical University of Athens, Pierros was responsible for deploying and maintaining various IT services for the School of Architecture (NTUA) including the Institutional Repository for dissertations, postgraduate theses and doctoral dissertations.
